SUBJ:     A Word of Support

On behalf of the membership of Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Inc., a business and professional women’s association affiliated with the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and the Black Women’s Agenda (BWA), I write to express our support for you as you carry out your appointed duties in these difficult times. We applaud your demonstrated concern for the communities you serve.

Of greater concern, however, is the outright disrespect with which you have recently been treated.  We view many of the attacks on you personally and against your policies as thinly veiled attempts to undermine your authority.  We know attacks like these are designed to distract from the failed leadership of others.  We write today to let you know that we are very proud of the ways in which you have held your ground and carried out your duties with professionalism in the best interests of your constituencies.

We encourage you to continue to perform the duties for which you were elected.  Your constituency is counting on you to lead them through the twin pandemics of disease and systemic racism.  As African American women we are accustomed to conducting ourselves with dignity while others try to hold us down.  Recognize the attacks for what they are but realize that there are many of us who are marching in lock-step with you.  A generation of civil rights leaders is leaving us for their Heavenly reward.  Yet, we are confident that the next generation of leaders is following in their footsteps, marching toward justice and equality.  Know that we support you with our daily prayers.

Peace and blessings to you, our sisters.
