A Message from the Grand Basileus Regarding the Tragic Events in Buffalo New York
On Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Buffalo, New York, this nation witnessed another horrific act of domestic terrorism. Thirteen American citizens, mostly African American, were murdered as they went about their business at a local supermarket. The gunman, espousing the views of white supremacy and racial hatred, intentionally chose this location due to its large African American population.
The members of Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Inc., express our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims. We express, in the strongest terms possible, our dismay at the proliferation of white supremacists and the unfettered rhetoric which empowers their followers to resort to violence. We call for our elected leaders to respond in appropriate ways by implementing legislation for gun control, control over hate speech, and greater mental health awareness. We are united in our quest for the rights of all Americans to live in peace and without fear.
